BCA Parent-Student Night

BCA will be hosting Parent-Student Night on Friday, Sept. 28th at 7:00 p.m. in the BCA Library.  The purpose is to take parents into the actual classroom in which the children are taught.  Students will demonstrate some of their daily educational activities.  Parents, friends and family are invited to attend.  What a great way to introduce and support Berean Christian Academy.

Peddling For Proclaimers

via Mission Network News,

“USA (FCBH/MNN) ― Eight years ago, Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH) developed the Proclaimer, a solar-powered digital playback device.

The project came about because of the high illiteracy rates around the world that prevented the poor from having access to God’s Word in their own heart language.

Enter: Troy Love, a police officer from Columbus, Indiana, and a former Marine. He first heard of the Proclaimer during a presentation at his church in 2010 and decided to raise funds and awareness for FCBH listening groups by riding his bike across the country.

In September 2010, he completed a six-week journey that took him from San Francisco, California to Yorktown, Virginia. That ride generated over $67,000.

Now he’s back: this time pedaling from Key West, Florida to Bar Harbor, Maine, with a goal of $90,000.  Together, these events will bring awareness of the needs as he speaks in churches and makes more appearances. The end goal between the two rides: $157,000, which would cover the cost to establish 1,000 Faith Comes By Hearing listening groups.”

Read the complete story here.  This is a great segue into a reminder of our own Jim Duncan, who is once again riding in the Bike For Bibles event this August.  Please visit Jim’s sponsor page and make a donation or leave a message.  Thank you.

Summer Camp Eligibility and Spring Banquet

Who is eligible for Berean Youth Clubs Summer  Camp?  A simple answer to this question is:  4th graders through 10th graders.  If an elementary student has completed the 3rd grade and is going into the 4th grade in September, then that student is eligible to be a BYC Summer Camper.  If a high school student has completed the 9th grade and is going into the 10th grade in September, here is another eligible camper.  Beyond the tenth grade the student can apply for one of the limited number of volunteer staff positions.

Berean Spring Banquet

This year’s spring banquet will be on Sunday evening, May 16 at 6:00.  After enjoying a pot-luck meal, we will present the annual awards to our high-achieving Berean Youth Club members.  Our special guest speaker, Mr. Juan Baldor, originally from Havana, Cuba, will give his testimony of knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and will tell us some pertinent facts about the conditions in Cuba today.  Special music, by our gifted friends, Bob and Freda Brand will be interspersed throughout the evening.  This year’s banquet promises to be a special evening of great Christian fellowship, good food and edifying music.  We hope you can join us.  Be sure to bring some guests for this relaxing and profitable night.  There is no charge for this event.  Dress casually.

The post below is a correction to a previous post on BYC Summer Camp, which indicated that ninth graders were not eligible for summer camp. This was a mistake. Camp is for students who will be going into the fourth grade, the ninth grade or any grade in between when school begins in August or September. Thanks to those who corrected this error!

Summer Camp is for students from 4th through 9th grades!

We are now taking applications for summer campers. If a student has completed the third grade but has not yet completed the ninth grade that student is eligible for summer camp. Boys week is June 13-19. Girls week will be June 20-26.
An exciting week of Bible study and enjoyable outdoor activities has been planned. Call the church office for an application.

BYC Summer Camp

It is time to reserve a spot for campers in June. Boys Week will be June 13 through June 19. Girls Weeki June 20 through 26.

Campers must have completed the third grade but not the ninth grade.

Cost is $325 per camper which includes everything, including transportation to and from Lake Murray, near Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Read on for Money Saving Deals for Campers!

Money Saving Deal #1: If you pay before May 1, you only pay $300!

Money Saving Deal #2: For every new camper you refer, who registers, pays and attends summer camp, we will deduct $25 from your fee. A new camper is someone who has never attended BYC summer camp before.

Attention All Bereans & Friends!

We are planning a great evening of fellowship. At about 11:30 we will gather for prayer and will welcome in 2010 united in prayer. You will be glad you came!

BCA in Holiday Parade

The Holiday Parade sponsored by the City of Irving, will begin at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 5 at Heritage Park, 217 Main Street.  Mrs. Gitchel, our second Grade teacher,  will lead four BCA students to represent Berean Christian Academy.  They will be handing out candy and invitations to the BCA Christmas program.   Please pray that many who receive these invitations will attend the Christmas Program,  hear the Gospel and consider sending their children to BCA next year.  Mrs. Gitchel and Mrs. Flores spent Saturday making the children’s costumes and the decorations for the trikes which they will be riding.  They are amazing!  I hope that a lot of Bereans and friends will be able to attend the parade and cheer when our Berean kids pass by!
